What a token unlock means

Vesting releases

Most tokens launch with a large portion locked for the team, investors and foundations. On a set schedule those tokens “unlock” and become transferable. Recurring monthly cliffs and linear vesting are the two common shapes.

Unlock percentage

The percentage shows how much of the currently circulating supply an event adds. A 2–4% monthly unlock is typical for major L2s; the larger the share, the more the market tends to watch it.

Estimated value

We multiply the released token amount by the live market price (CoinGecko). Both inputs move, so the figure is an orientation, not a settlement amount. Verify exact numbers on TokenUnlocks or the project’s own docs.

What is a token unlock and why does it matter?
A token unlock (or vesting release) is when tokens that were previously locked — held by the team, early investors, foundations or airdrop recipients — become transferable. Large unlocks can increase sellable supply and are watched closely because they sometimes coincide with price pressure. This board tracks the next scheduled unlocks for major projects.

How do I read the unlock percentage?
The "of circulating" figure is the approximate share of a token’s circulating supply that the event releases. A 2% unlock means roughly 2% of all currently tradable tokens become newly available. Higher percentages relative to circulating supply tend to draw more market attention.
Where does the unlock schedule data come from?
Schedules are curated from publicly published vesting timelines (TokenUnlocks, project docs and CryptoRank) and baked into the page so it loads instantly and works in every region. Token amounts and percentages are approximate and clearly labelled — always verify the exact figures on the source before making any decision.
Is there an airdrop countdown here too?
This board focuses on on-chain token unlock and vesting dates, which are published and predictable. Airdrop seasons and eligibility are usually announced ad hoc by each project and are not a fixed calendar, so we cover them in our FAQ and guides rather than a countdown. Are the unlock dollar values accurate?
The estimated value is the unlock token amount multiplied by the live market price, fetched from CoinGecko at page load. Because both the amount (approximate) and the price move, treat the value as an orientation figure, not a precise settlement amount.
Do token unlocks always cause the price to drop?
Not necessarily. Markets often price unlocks in advance, and unlocked tokens are not automatically sold — many recipients hold. Unlocks are one of several supply signals; they are most relevant when large relative to circulating supply or when sentiment is already weak. Nothing here is financial advice.
